After moving a wordpress site and database files twice in a week, I think I’ve found my favorite tutorials on the subject:

1. Backing up your database with phpMyAdmin and wordpress files

2. If you are moving it to GoDaddy, this is very helpful info for setting up the SQL database and importing your backed-up database from the old wordpress site

3. My final step is a fix for when you redirected to the old site after you have logged into the new site. This tutorial show you how to fix what is probably the issue using phpMyAdmin to configure wp_options in your SQL database. Note: go to the section called “Changing the URL directly in the database” and do all the steps. I was amazed at how much this fixed my issues

To learn how I built the jQuery slider on my home page as well as the CPM East site, head over to http://www.serie3.info/s3slider/ and grab the codes. Once you get a hang of it, the s3Slider is ridiculously easy to implement.

Now, there are a lot of flash image galleries out there but you can’t see them on the iPhone and I personally like to be able to tweek the hell out of a gallery with CSS. As a designer, I need to be constantly trying new techniques and reinterpreting my vision of the world around me. Thanks to crucible of information that the internet spews, I am able to find inspiration from other creative folks. I will start posting daily inspiration sources here as a way to share what get’s me in the design’n mood.

It’s been a crazy week and I think I’m about to kick it up a notch. Since my last post, I’ve really gotten into jQuery, the 960 Grid system, Litmus, and various PHP includes. If all goes well tonight, I will have successfully launched 2 new sites and completely redesigned and coded my own site. I’ve been very busy elsewwhere. My band just finished recording it’s first really good EP in the studio. More on that later…
